Riviere du loop 110 klm

It was windy but dry all night and still a bit windy in the morning. After a good breakfast and a chat with a friend I was on the road at 9 as usual.

The Gulf is getting wide but today is clearer and I can see hills of Charlevoix on the other side.
By late morning is was about 23 degrees. Perfect.
Kleine Nahani has been quiet the last few days but was good company today.  There was a really nice 20 klm section of a good unpaved trail right along the water. This section was very flat and low and over the years dykes were built to turn it in to good farmland.
Lunch at Kamouraska. Delicious chowder and a beer. Nice chat with the waitress.

It was a fairly flat ride to Riviere du Loop but I had to do a big climb out of the river valley as I turned south towards New Brunswick.

The Route Verte trail heading south is a rail trail that goes all the way to Edmundston NB. If the rest is as good as the 15 klm I rode today I will be happy tomorrow. I arrived at my campground at 3:30 having ridden 110 klm. Blackflies in abundance!

  2. I've been enjoying the images and the blog and I'm glad everything is going well. A lot of the scenery is very familiar and puts me in mid of car trips I have done with family... good memories. Can't ever imagine doing the trip by bike myself but am happy you are! Gail
